What Touches Me Most Deeply in India
This is where my heart lies. In the midst of Rajasthan’s arid landscape and simplicity, on a mat in the sand, next to a woman who embodies everything that inspires me: strength, dignity, and the will to survive, despite poverty.
Time and again, I’m drawn to these places, these people, these women. They live in conditions that are unimaginable to many, yet their resilience is unparalleled. Together with their mothers, daughters, and sisters—as a tribe, a circle of women who support one another.
Here I feel the essence of womanhood—and also the pain that comes with it.

The parents supported by Blue House Pushkar often have no income—or insufficient income—to build a hopeful future for their families. Many of the students come from poor, lower castes. Their parents are often musicians or cleaners, and in many cases are forced to send their children out to beg. To break this vicious cycle, Blue House Pushkar provides employment to the children’s parents.
By offering them work, these families are given the chance to become self-sufficient and independent. We sell the handmade products they create through our online store, and 100% of the proceeds go directly to the woman who made the product.
