We don't sell 'skirts'. We tell stories.

We don't sell 'skirts'. We tell stories.
Someone recently asked me, "You sell skirts, right?" And I have to admit, that question really hit me hard. Not because it's wrong—yes, we do sell skirts—but because it's so much more than that. At first, I felt irritated. Skirts? The word sounded so superficial, so far removed from what we do.
What we do is support families, women and children in Pushkar, India. What we do is contribute to lives, to opportunities, to dreams. And yes, we do that through beautiful clothing, jewelry and bags that are made with an incredible amount of love and attention. But every item we sell carries a story. A story of craftsmanship, of perseverance, of connection.
Craftsmanship with a soul
Our collection comes to life in tiny studios in Pushkar, which I have personally selected. Studios run by families that I visit as my home. I know the people, I know their stories and I know exactly how and under what conditions they work.
This is not mass production. No fast trade. Everything we make takes time and attention. Sometimes it takes months to finish an item. The colours can be slightly different, because the fabrics are hand-dyed. During the rainy season, the fabrics dry more slowly, so we have to wait. Reused saris sometimes have small imperfections, scars from a previous life.
But we don't just take it for granted - we embrace it. Because what we make is pure and real. Authentic. And we always will be.
The faces behind our mission
In the picture you see the real Gypsy women of the lowest caste in India. These women have it hard. They often become mothers at a young age and sometimes have five children by the age of 27. They are usually single. They live with their families in tents, without security or stability.
We do not give these women and children money or clothing. We give them opportunities. Through our collaboration with the Blue House Pushkar foundation, we help them step by step to break out of the poverty cycle. No bureaucratic administration where money sticks to the stick, but direct, concrete help.
Every Friday we donate to Blue House Pushkar . With that money, children can go to school, get school uniforms, a nutritious lunch, and food parcels. And yes, we even build houses. This is not charity; this is empowerment. It is the only way these children and their families can build a different future.
Every product carries a story
So no, we don’t sell ‘skirts’. We sell dreams, stories and connection. Every item that passes through our hands carries the soul of the maker, the craftsmanship of the artisans and the hope of a community in Pushkar.
And of course I am proud of every product we make. But it is more than that. Every piece, from a skirt to a bag, has made a long, special journey to reach you. And with every purchase, you are part of that story.
So the next time you wear a skirt from us, feel connected. To the maker. To the women and children of Pushkar. To the mission that drives us. And most of all: to yourself. ❤️
