Shall we start together? Here are our tips! 💛

10 Tips to Declutter Your Closet Like We Would at The Two Sisters

Tidying up your closet can be a bit cozy and inspiring! Think of a nice atmosphere, warm tea or coffee, and maybe even a friend who helps you. Here are our 10 tips to tidy up your closet with love and attention - and make it a party!

  1. Start with a Clear Goal
Why do you want to clean out your wardrobe? Do you want more peace and space, make room for new items or get an overview? Write down your goal and keep it in mind. This way you stay motivated and cleaning up feels like something you are doing for yourself .

  2. Work By Category – It Keeps It Fun!
Instead of tackling everything at once, start by category. First, take out all your tops, then your pants, then your dresses, and so on. This will keep things organized and prevent you from getting overwhelmed. Plus, it feels great to complete each category!

  3. Ask yourself: “Does this make me happy?”
Hold each piece of clothing for a moment and feel what it does to you. Does it make you happy, do you feel beautiful in it? Keep it! Does it evoke doubt or negative feelings? Then let it go – you deserve clothes that make you shine.

  4. The 12 Month Rule
Have you not worn something in the past year? Ask yourself why. Does it no longer feel like 'you', or does it simply not fit anymore? If you don't miss it, give it new life by getting rid of it.

  5. Check the Fit and Comfort
Plan a little fashion show for yourself! Put on each piece and ask yourself: is it comfortable? Do I feel beautiful in it? Clothes that don’t fit well or make you feel insecure don’t belong in your closet.

  6. Choose Versatility
The best items are the ones that you can wear multiple ways. Do you have a piece that only goes with one thing? Think carefully about whether it really fits your wardrobe.

  7. Make a "Maybe" Box
For anything you’re still undecided about, use a “maybe” box. Set it aside and revisit it in three to six months. If you haven’t missed the contents, you’ll know it’s time to say goodbye.

  8. Be Conscious with Sentimental Clothing
Memories are precious, but that doesn’t mean you have to keep everything. Choose a few special pieces that really mean something to you and give them a nice place, separate from your everyday clothes.

  9. Think Sustainable: Donate, Sell or Upcycle
Give your clothes a second chance! Donate beautiful pieces to a good cause, sell them online or use creativity to make something new, like a bag or a pillow. It feels good to let your clothes be useful.

  10. Create a Maintenance Plan
A tidy closet needs a little love. Keep a system: for every new piece you buy, get rid of an old piece. Also, schedule a time each season to look at your closet and keep it up-to-date.

Make it a fun experience!

  • Turn on your favorite music: Everything is better with a good playlist.
  • Invite a friend: Tidying up together makes decision-making easier and more fun.
  • Take your time: You don’t have to do everything at once. Work in small blocks of 1-2 hours and reward yourself with a treat.

By following these steps, you will not only create a tidy closet, but also a clothing collection that you are proud of. A closet full of pieces that reflect your unique style – and that make you happy every day! ✨
